Child experts share latest findings in 5th Pan Arab Paediatric Conference

Over 100 experts from different paediatric fields have attended the 2-day conference to highlight the new studies, treatments and procedures to benefit the local medical fraternity as well as shed light on the problems facing the young kids in the region.

The 5th Pan Arab Paediatric Conference supported by Kids Neuro Clinic and Rehab Center, Dubai held at V Hotel Al Habtoor City, Dubai.

Sheikh Mana Bin Rashid Al Maktoum also attended the conference and praised the organizers for setting a unique platform for local doctors and experts to share their knowledge and latest in their respective speciality.

The conference discussed the latest developments in the field of pediatrics and neurology.

Dr. Hamza Alsayouf presented his latest publication of studies in the treatment of autism, as these studies included the treatment of 28 children with autism. Doctors specialize in kids neuro in Dubai gave a series of important lectures, where Dr. Haitham discussed the treatment of heart failure in children, and Dr. Ahmed Al Shafei discussed the psychological consequences of Corona on children and how to treat it.

Dr Hamza Alsayouf, Consultant Child Neurologist and Epileptologist, fellow of American Academy of Neurology & Child Society, American Board while talking to the Gulf Today said that “this was our 5th annual conference with the participation from the field of medical to discuss and share the latest innovation, studies and medicine in the field of paediatric and most importantly to update the pediatricians. We bring prominent local to international experts to our platform to share the updated knowledge in the field,” he said.

He added that this year the conference was hybrid in the wake of Covid-19 situation.

“With the guidelines of local health authorities, we limited the physical attendance of participants to around 100 while over 500 attended our virtual session live not only in the UAE but also around the world,” he said.

Responding to a question, he said that “We at Kids Neuro Clinic and Rehab Center, Dubai have published two research papers on the Autism treatment in the medical journals while in this 2-day conference many experts highlights a wide range of expertise in the field of paediatric to benefit the professionals in this field as everyone knows that the medical field is moving rapidly as everyday something come up and for doctors it is very difficult to catch up. But conferences like these are aim to update these doctors and experts with the latest around the world,” he added.

The recent findings, published by Dr. Hamza Alsayouf in the International Journal of Neuropsychiatry and Therapeutics, on the treatment of Autism Spectrum Disorder at the Pediatric Neurological Clinic and Rehabilitation Center in Dubai offer promising hope. This pivotal study shares data revealing that a drug intervention resulted in an absolute and complete resolution of core signs and symptoms of autism spectrum disorder in younger children 4 years of age and older.

The 2-day conference discussed a wide range of topics by professionals from local hospitals and region were including Autism & Diet by Dr Basil Nasrallah; Childhood in Coronavirus Pandemic by Dr Rafia Owera, Acute Appendicitis in Children: Prevalence of Bacteria in Dubai by Dr Hussein Naji, Epilepsy with eyelid myocolonics by Dr Emad Yasin, Surgical Management of Vesicoureteral Reflux by Dr Hosam Al Qudah, Vision Therapy by Dr Walid Abdalla, Diagnostic Picture Tests in Paediatric Endocrinology by Dr Mustafa Alqaisi, Gene Therapy in Batten Diseases by Dr Emily De Los Reyes, Paediatric Strokes by Dr Pisani Alessandro, Early Nutrition and Brain Development by Dr Hisham Tawkol.

Specialist in various fields of medicine also discussed various deficiencies like Spinal Deformities in Children by Dr Said Alubaidi, Paediatric Cardiac Emergencies by Dr Haitham Talk, Chiari Malformation in Children by Dr Ramon Balbuena, Posterior Fossa tumor Management in Children by Dr Mohammad Al Olama and Psychiatric Disorders in the Aftermath of COVID-19 by Dr Ahmed Elshafie.
