Dubai Future Councils Committee holds its first meeting

To discuss opportunities and plans to develop 13 vital sectors in Dubai:

The Dubai Future Councils committee highlighted the importance of strengthening efforts and working together at an accelerated pace to realize the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

This came during the first meeting of Dubai Future Councils chaired by His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Future Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of Dubai Future Foundation, in the presence of the heads of the councils and members of both local and federal government entities.

Launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, the Dubai Future Councils aims to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise, find effective solutions to challenges, turn ideas into realty through testing and launch initiatives that will shape the future of Dubai.

His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, said: “Dubai Future Councils reflect Dubai’s forward looking approach in shaping the future of governments, cities and societies; and develop a comprehensive vision for the future of vital sectors”.

Tasks, outputs and structureThe meeting reviewed the functions of the Dubai Future Councils, which includes reviewing and keeping abreast with global trends, identifying best opportunities for developing future sectors in Dubai, analyzing and anticipating challenges as well as proposing ideal solutions.  The meeting also discussed the expected outcomes of the Dubai Future Councils, which includes issuing of forward-looking reports, introduction of proactive strategies, raising recommendations and launching supportive initiatives and forming and executing of operational plans that will strengthen Dubai’s key strategic sectors.  The Dubai Future Councils structure is composed of 13 councils in which each has 10 to 15 members with specialty in key sectors including; academia, start-up and entrepreneurship, legislation and policy, research and development, public and private sectors, fore-sight experts and industry experts.

Dubai Future Council Focus Areas

Dubai Future Council for Blockchain will focus on the future of digital transactions on the future of the uses of this technology in finding solutions to strategic challenges, whereas the Dubai Future Council for Community Security will discuss the concept of security and the use of future technologies to accelerate security efforts.

Dubai Future Council for Education will explore ways of enhancing the education experience, introduce innovate educational models as well as enable generations to come to address future challenges, whereas the Dubai Future Council on Humanitarian Aids will look into new approaches that will aid delivery methods.

Dubai Future Council for Media will discuss the future of the media, its challenges and ways to keep abreast with global changes within the media industry, whereas Dubai Future Council for Transportation will focus on the future of transportation and smart mobility placing Dubai as a global reference within the sector.

Dubai Future Council for Future Cities will work towards positioning Dubai as a global model for cities of the future, whereas Dubai Future Council for Energy will look into opportunities to turn Dubai into the most sustainable city in the field of clean energy.

Dubai Future Council for Artificial Intelligence will focus on regulating the use of artificial intelligence for the betterment of humanity as well as transform Dubai into a global lab for its development, whereas the Dubai Future Council for Talents will focus on strengthening Dubai’s position as an attractive city for talents, minds and experts.

Dubai Future Council for Health & Wellbeing will discuss the future of health and quality of living, whereas Dubai Future Council for Entrepreneurship & Innovation Ecosystem will look into providing an agile environment that welcomes and enables innovation and entrepreneurship and the Dubai Future Council for Logistics sector will look into the future of this vital sector by employing advanced technology.
