City Walk welcomes film enthusiasts for worldwide premiere of much-anticipated blockbuster The Chinese Captain
Hala China, the joint initiative by Meraas and Dubai Holding, welcomed over 3,000 guests, including Chinese movie stars, to the glamorous opening night of the second China Film Week at City Walk. The red-carpet event also celebrated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the UAE.
Among the distinguished attendees were His Excellency Li Xuhang, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, and Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Hala China. Zhang Jizhong, one of the most influential film personalities in China and acclaimed producer and director of The Hero Chiyou, Chen Jianbin, celebrated actor known for his appearance in the TV series Three Kingdoms, and multi-award-winning actress Jiang Qinqin represented the Chinese film industry.
In collaboration with the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Dubai, the China Film Administration and the Dubai Film and TV commission, the event showcases the best of China’s burgeoning film industry to Dubai audiences.
This year’s China Film Week also features the inaugural China-UAE Film and Television Forum on 30 September at Madinat Jumeirah, and an exhibition of more than 100 photographs that chronicles the evolution of the Chinese film industry over the last 70 years. The retrospective is open to the public until 5 October in Roxy Cinemas at City Walk.
