In the Year of Tolerance, Catwalk International partners with Al Noor Center, with the support of the American University in Emirates students, to organize The Determined Show 2019, the first of its kind in Dubai and the region.
The event was held under the patronage of H H Sheikh Mohammed Bi Maktoum Bin Jouma’ al Maktoum who attended the special event in support of the determined cause.
Beautiful Syrian Actress Jenny Esber also attended the event as a celebrity guest and at one point walked the runway with a determined child to close the show for Ty Fashion, one of the kids brands participating at the event.
The show which was held at the Royal Central Hotel in Palm Jumeirah, aimed at highlighting the importance of integrating people of determination in the society. Thus having them doing catwalks on the runway along professional fashion models.
Choupette a Russian brand of designers’ kids wear, opened the show with their Choupette Special Occasion AW19-20 by having a kid of determination on a wheel chair pushed by another kid wearing their special high end collection, a site that was received with cheers and applauds from audience and even staff.
Choupette Creative Director Alexandrova Natalia who flew in from Moscow to oversee and support the brand at the show, said “We are very pleased to be part of such an event and cause. We will also be giving all kids the clothes they wore for our catwalk as a show of appreciation”
The Russian high-end brand really demonstrated elegance and quality on and off the runway.
Ty Fashion, which followed as the second show with their Spring 2019 collection opened their act with few kids of determination. Kids holding hands and sharing the runway showcasing colorful kids accessories. The collection itself follows the Ty concept developed by Ty Warner. Audience discovered trendy and fashionable products for children of both genders that consisted of colorful sparkly sequins.
Alywin Liusie Director of ALGT said, “We were inspired by the event and its concept, that’s why we have decided to participate at the show and support the kids’. Ty Fashion also gave the kids at the show whatever they modeled with during their catwalk in addition to all sorts of colorful and exciting other gifts, making sure all kids at the show wore a big smile on their faces.
The third act was that of the Belgian luxury brand PP by the passionate and highly talented Belgian Designer Pieter Petros. Petros showed the PP SS19 men collection, opening the show with a determined adult in a beautiful and colorful outfit, a scene that touched the hearts and souls of the audience. Petros and his models continued to show the collection and walk with determined models, even at one point dancing with them on the runway. Petros who is a designer and a model himself walked with another determined adult to close the show to a cheerful and happy audience. Petros told reporters at the event “I’m so happy to be at the show and grateful to be part of such an amazing project”.
The fourth show went to the elegant and beautiful designer Gulnar Mukhedinova showing an amazing collection titled, Beauty Within SS19. The collection was presented by professional models reflecting the glamorous designs and the high quality of fabrics used, in a truly Haute Couture fashion.
Inspired by red carpet and the luxury life style of Dubai, the collection was perceived with admiration and lots of appreciation by audience and media alike.
Gulnar who also had her beautiful daughter modeling for the kids brands in support of the show and its cause said “My daughter and me just wanted to be here to support the event and its cause”.
As for the fifth show, and in the spirit of the motto of the American University in the Emirates that “Nothing is Impossible”, the Department of Healthcare Management at the College of Business Administration chaired by Dr. Edyta Skibinska, demonstrated exceptional innovation as the students expanded their horizons and broadened their experience by collaborating with the College of Design/Fashion Department as they designed an excellent exquisite fashion collection for healthcare professionals. These unique designs incorporated the functionality of anti bacterial fabric and focused on creating different yet practical looks with incredible details. Even more unique is that the logo of the Canadian Hospital into the designs. This project pushes the horizons of what is possible for the world of health care fashion in the future. Also AUE students volunteered to help backstage with the determined people, as well as in the overall organization of the event.
The sixth and final show went to the highly acclaimed Lebanese designer Waleed Attaallh who showed his latest collection of haute contour, bridal dresses, and men collection to an eagerly awaited crowd. Waleed who came onboard to support the event
