Region’s Foremost Fashion Institute Aims to Bridge Gap Between Education and Leather Industries
ESMOD Dubai’s reputation as the foremost fashion institute in the region has been further enhanced with the announcement of a strategic partnership with APLF, a globally recognized organizer of fashion and lifestyle trade exhibitions.
Their next event is APLF-Leather, an exhibition covering the leather supply chain from raw, crust to finished leathers, chemicals, dyes, tanning machinery, and design, taking place from now until 15th March 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
As an institutional partner for this annual gathering of the fashion fraternity, ESMOD Dubai will be using APLF-Leather as a platform to showcase fashion education and talent.
Maurizio Lacopini, as esteemed faculty member at ESMOD Dubai, will lead a one-of-a-kind daily workshop at APLF-Leather.
A seasoned Italian footwear designer and prototypist, who has worked with Tommy Hilfiger, Alberto Guardiani and Aldo Brue, and designed several luxury shoes for prominent figures across the globe, Mr. Lacopini brings a wealth of experience to the table.
His workshop, an abridged version of the 4-month footwear design he is currently teaching at ESMOD Dubai, focuses on the specific theoretical, design, technical and practical skills needed to make a mark in this space. He will touch upon concept and development as well as prototyping, branding, and merchandising.
ESMOD Dubai students will display product sketches, and mock ups freshly produced in their current Footwear program. Visiting the fair they will introduce their prototypes to suppliers, an exciting start to the launch of a collection of shoes in the near future.
APLF has initiated a worldwide bag design competition. Two ESMOD Dubai students have also been shortlisted for this prestigious bag designing competition, results of which will be announced on site.
