Our teams provide the greatest attention and care to People of Determination by placing them at the forefront of our strategic community initiatives. These initiatives are designed to include all essential aspects, from facilities to services, tailored to align with their abilities, enabling them to lead fulfilling lives and boosting their active participation in community development. Through such endeavor, we aim to enhance their quality of life, well-being, and overall happiness in line with the Municipality’s efforts to reinforce Dubai’s attractiveness and upscale its residents’ quality of life as per the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai. We are committed to providing all citizens, including the People of Determination, with the essential components of a dignified life. This includes fostering their stability and encouraging their successes and achievements, all of which contribute significantly to Dubai’s ongoing journey of development.
Within this framework, Dubai Municipality has made significant strides in its efforts to support and empower People with Determination, facilitating their seamless integration into society. This has been accomplished through the implementation of accessibility specifications and standards in a wide range of facilities throughout Dubai, ensuring that they are user-friendly for People with Determination. Furthermore, comprehensive assistance is provided to People of Determination in public parks, recreational facilities, beaches, streets, markets, and service buildings across the emirate, to meet their needs and ensure their ease and comfort in living their lives.
In a similar context, we have created opportunities for People of Determination to become part of our workforce, offering them a diverse array of administrative positions tailored to their specific needs. Q: How have modern assistive technologies and innovative initiatives been utilized to enhance the well-being and happiness of People of Determination, and what are the standout technologies and initiatives you’ve employed for this purpose?
We have adopted several innovative technologies and introduced various services to assist People of Determination, enabling them to actively participate in their communities and lead fulfilling lives within a nurturing and accommodating environment. These developments are in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Executive Council, to transform Dubai into an inclusive city for People of Determination and to foster an environment that caters to their needs. These notable services provided by the Municipality include:
Establishment of 10 accessible entrances and pathways at various public beaches, including Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, Umm Suqeim 1, Umm Suqeim 2, as well as Al Mamzar Creek and Corniche beaches. These enhancements facilitate seamless access to the sea for People of Determination, ensuring they can enjoy the beach experience. In addition to that, we have created a 73-meter marine platform at Jumeirah Beach 2, including three dedicated lanes designed to provide People of Determination with the utmost safety and convenience when accessing the sea. Through these initiatives, Dubai Municipality aims to enhance the beach experience for People of Determination and elevate their happiness.
The Municipality has allocated 28 beachfront parking spots specifically designated for People of Determination, along with 16 public beach restrooms, seven beach wheelchairs available for shoreline activities, and eight floating wheelchairs for those who wish to swim in the sea. Furthermore, these beaches are equipped with highly trained and qualified rescue teams who are ready to provide specialized assistance to People of Determination.
In addition to these amenities, Dubai Municipality has introduced the “Happiness Vehicle” initiative to extend support to elderly citizens and People of Determination in accessing and utilizing the Municipality’s electronic and smart services. This initiative involves personal visits to their residences, aiding them in accessing municipal services, addressing their specific needs, and streamlining their transactions.
